Imagine yourself an average nobody with an average life, muddling through a career, a family, what-have-you, but as content as any person would be in your average situation, which on average, is meh to very.

One day, a couple of knuckleheads show up at your door claiming to be from another universe. They seem nice, normal, and like you, pretty average. Before you can slam the door in their faces, they launch into a spiel telling you, very matter-of-factly, that the migraines you’ve been suffering from recently are due to a genetic, but correctable, “mental block,” that was preventing you from reaching your full telepathic potential, and they were there to help. 

How do you react? Would you take them seriously? Would this sudden knowledge blow your mind or alter your paradigm? Of course not. You would probably laugh, thank them for their story, and then slam the door in their faces.

Except for one thing. You realize no one actually spoke and you were hearing their thoughts, not their words. Clearly they are the real deal and telepathing you hard. Do you open the door? No, you’d probably run, which is the very same reaction many Agents have experienced in their personal 'awakenings'.

Agents are people just like you. They are not mutants or aliens or any other fringe species. They are humans with latent telepathic abilities that were recognized, encouraged and-or enhanced, and now they work for an organization that keeps the interdimensional highways in order.
