Fishing My Stream of Consciousness
Sometimes it’s easier to just let the words flow and worry about what it all means later. It can be very therapeutic since I’m only listening to the sound of the words and how they fit together. Sentences will build themselves out of phrases built of words I think I know, into grand arguments worthy of a dissertation, if the presenter were babbling nonsense. It isn’t all nonsense, of course, because when I “translate” what I’ve written back to me in Standard Mike, I often find an interesting idea or two buried in there, that I didn’t directly come up with.
It actually is a bit like fishing, in that sometimes I’ll sense an idea or breakthrough lurking just beneath the surface of my writing. I try not to react but stay with the flow until I feel the aha! moment arrive, then I slam the words down again, but this time with meaning and not worrying about how it sounds.
A friend told me it sounded like hallucination writing. I tend to agree.
